Macon was founded in 1823 right off the bank of the famous
Ocmulgee River. Macon is known for its wide variety of real estate options
including brand new homes as well as historic homes. You will find many Greek
Revivals, Georgian Colonials and Craftsman style homes in the downtown and
Vineville areas. Macon is also well
known for its musical heritage. Some may even refer to Macon as "Where the
soul lives!" Many artists, from the
Allman Brothers to Little Richard, got their start in Macon. The things to do here are endless! Take a 35
minute float down Amerson River, splash around at Sandy Beach Water Park off of
Lake Tobesofkee, take a shopping spree at Riverside Mall. Macon is home to many
colleges and universities, including Mercer University, Middle Georgia State
University, & Wesleyan College as well as a few technical colleges. You can
even visit the Allman Brothers museum while in Macon. Don't forget the kids as
Macon has tons of attractions for children of all ages. They have a wide
selection of movie theatres as well as live theatre! The Tubman
African American Museum and the Ocmulgee National Monument are must see
attractions. Macon is convenient to
Robins AFB and about 90 minutes to Atlanta.
