From trails through the woods, to haunted floats down the Ocmulgee River, there is no shortage of great Halloween activities in Macon and the surrounding areas. Here are some must-visit Halloween activities in Middle GA. Links for more info and tickets provided...

1.  Lake Joy Trail of Terror.

First on the list is the Lake Joy Trail of Terror in Kathleen, GA. This haunted trail offers a spine-chilling experience for thrill-seekers and horror enthusiasts alike. As you navigate through the dark, winding paths, be prepared to encounter ghouls, ghosts, and all manner of creepy creatures lurking in the shadows. It's a frightful delight that promises to get your adrenaline pumping.  Although the lines can be long, the Trail of Terror has a live DJ playing, contests, food vendors and of course, scary creatures to keep you entertained. Proceeds go to charity.

For those who prefer their scares with a side of history, the Macon Macabre Walking Tour is an excellent choice. This guided tour takes you through downtown Macon, where you'll hear tales of haunted landmarks and eerie events from the city's past. The combination of historical storytelling and ghostly legends makes for an unforgettable evening stroll.

 

3. Haunted Montrose:

4. Macon Witches Float with Ocmulgee Outdoor Adventures

For a more whimsical take on Halloween, check out the Witches Float on the Ocmulgee River in Macon. This enchanting event features participants dressed as witches paddling down the river on kayaks and paddleboards. It's a magical sight that combines community spirit with festive fun.

 

5. Legends and Lore at the Hay House:

 

"Experience Hay House after dark! Explore behind the scenes of one of the “13 Most Beautiful Haunted Destinations Around the World,” as named by Architectural Digest. Hear chilling tales of eerie noises, flickering lights, and ghost sightings.

New this year, arrive early to enjoy a complimentary glass of wine, beer, or soda, and browse the ground level of the house before the tour. Refreshments are served from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm, with the tour starting promptly at 6:00 pm, lasting about 90 minutes."

 

6. Spirits in October/Saints and Sinners: Historic Riverside Cemetery

"Exceptional southern storytelling will be alive and well in Historic Riverside Cemetery as this year's Spirits in October offers ticket holders a guided walking tour with representations of spirits of some of Macon’s most fascinating characters.  Stroll through the beautiful 126-year old cemetery grounds in Historic Riverside Cemetery on the only historical tour in central Georgia that offers visitors a glimpse into the past, and  captivating stories featured importantly in Macon’s history in one of Georgia's most exclusive underground clubs.


Historic Riverside Cemetery Conservancy will present Saints and Sinners during its annual Spirits in October tour during the weekends of October 24th-27th and November 1st-3rd. Walk beneath the night sky amongst old-world crosses and Gothic headstones, where the righteous and the wicked are equal, united by death's quiet impartiality."

 

7. Downtown Perry GA Sweet n Treats - October 27th

Come Trick or Treat on Downtown Perry streets on October 27!
